Nicola has completed a degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate
Certificate in Applied Psychology, and a Masters Degree
in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy. These qualifications
require a basic competence in Psychological education and
the delivery of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
An effective therapy approach, however, requires the additional
qualities of practical experience and key relationship skills.
Nicola has worked in a variety of National Health Service
and Private Sector settings. Her experience of health and
social care started in residential social work within child
care homes and secure units. She worked with children and
adolescents and developed psychological based interventions
to support care workers and promote resident’s emotional
development. More recently Nicola’s caseload has been
primarily in Adult Mental Health helping to provide individual
and group therapy to adults (16+ years). In all of these
settings Nicola has endeavoured to promote service evaluation
and development towards meeting service-user’s needs.
Following the ethical guidelines promoted by the BABCP and
BPS Nicola strikes an appropriate balance between empathic
listening and active solution focused guidance. Emphasis
is placed on the development of a genuine professional relationship
with her clients to develop rapport and promote mutual trust.
These basic qualities are important in order that therapeutic
goals can be more effectively achieved.
Nicola has access to consulting rooms in Birmingham and
also Worcester. She usually travels to company premises
for training seminars. |
